Celebrating a Century of Chrysler in Canada

Weāre about to take a cruise down memory lane, celebrating a true titan of the Canadian automotive landscape right here in our own backyard. As Unique Chrysler, your trusted car dealership in Burlington, weāre incredibly proud to share a story thatās deeply woven into the fabric of our province and, indeed, our nationās history.
A Century of Canadian Chrysler Craftsmanship
Exactly 100 years ago today, on June 17, 1925, something remarkable happened in Windsor, Ontario. Just 11 days after Walter P. Chrysler founded his namesake corporation across the river in Detroit, Chrysler Canada was officially incorporated.
From those humble beginnings, right here in the heart of Ontario, a powerhouse was born, destined to shape our economy, employ generations of Ontarians, and put millions of vehicles on our roads.

Think about that for a moment. Over the past century, Chrysler has produced more than 25 million vehicles in Canada. Thatās an incredible legacy, creating tens of thousands of jobs and contributing immeasurably to Canadaās prosperity.
For us here at Unique Chrysler, and for anyone who calls Ontario home, this isn't just a corporate milestone; it's a testament to the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication of our neighbours, our friends, and our families who have poured their hearts into building these vehicles.
Jeff Hines, president and CEO of Stellantis Canada, perfectly captured this sentiment, saying, āAs we celebrate a century of operations here in Canada, we are incredibly proud of our legacy. We have been an instrumental player in helping to shape the automotive industry through bold innovation, engineering excellence and timeless, yet affordable designs.ā

From 181 employees and 4,500 vehicles in 1925 to nearly 9,000 current employees and 440 dealers (like us!) coast to coast, itās a journey that speaks volumes about the enduring spirit of Canadian manufacturing.

To mark this momentous occasion, Chrysler is going all out! This coming Sunday, June 22nd, the Windsor Assembly Plant hosted a special Family Day for employees, retirees, and their loved ones. It was a chance to celebrate together, to share stories, and to honour the generations of hands that have built these iconic vehicles.
Car enthusiasts also have the chance to join in the festivities at a car show organized by Cars & Coffee Windsor along Chrysler Centre Road. With proceeds benefitting the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village, it was a fantastic way to celebrate while supporting a great cause. Imagine the roar of classic engines, the gleam of polished chrome, and the shared passion for automotive history ā all right here in Ontario!
Stellantis in Ontario
It's also worth remembering that Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has deep roots and a significant footprint right here in Ontario.
Beyond the Windsor Assembly Plant, where the beloved Chrysler Pacifica family and the all-new Dodge Charger muscle car are built, we also have the Brampton Assembly Plant, undergoing retooling for an exciting next-generation product, and a key metals casting plant in Etobicoke. This isn't just about cars; it's about a thriving ecosystem of innovation, research, and development.
The Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC) in Windsor, a unique partnership with the University of Windsor, is at the forefront of automotive research, and it's soon to be home to the Stellantis North America Battery Technology Centre ā a hub for developing cutting-edge battery technology for electric vehicles!
And letās not forget NextStar Energy, the joint venture with LG Energy Solution, which is bringing Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant right here to Windsor.
As we at Unique Chrysler reflect on this incredible 100-year journey, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you, our loyal customers across Ontario.
As the commemorative signage at the plant so eloquently puts it: "You didnāt just ride along. You drove us." Your trust, your enthusiasm, and your commitment to Canadian-built vehicles have been the driving force behind this remarkable century of success. Hereās to the next 100 years of innovation, quality, and Canadian pride on our roads!
