New 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan
2015 Dodge Grand Caravan Review
With all the changes at Chrysler and the fact that Fiat is taking over, there is a lot of turmoil at the minute with changes to the various brands. One of the casualties of all this looks to be the Dodge Grand Caravan. That means the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan could be the last ever. If that wasn't a reason to get one, we don't know what is!
The current model has been in production since 2011, so is due a makeover. As this is perhaps the swansong for the vehicle in its current guise, we're expecting something special. For a people carrier that has been with us since 1980, we expect something memorable, if it is indeed the final one.
There is a lot of speculation right now that the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan will shift slightly to look and feel more like a crossover to give the Chrysler Town and Country more room to breathe. Whether this is true or not, we are expecting some big changes for the model.
The last refresh took a tired design and brought it right up to date and we are expecting that to happen again. Just what form those changes will take is anybody's guess!
The same could be said for the interior. Again, we don't know that much about what to expect, but we are expecting some big changes. The revisions for the 2013 model brought us improved materials, a much higher standard of finishing, more technology and a plush cabin that could seat up to seven in comfort.
The one thing we don't expect to change for the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is the engine. We think the existing 3.6-liter Pentastar engine that gives us 283 hp will remain. It is connected to a six-speed transmission which sends drive to the front wheels. It's a solid motor with proven reliability so there really is no reason to change it so late in the day.
As for trims, they too are likely to remain, as is the value-oriented "American Value Package." It brought in too many buyers to ignore for this final year so we think it will stay. Offering power accessories, removable seats, cruise control, air conditioning and keyless entry, it offered a great deal for the price.
The 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan may be on its final voyage, but we think it will go out with a bang. As soon as we can firm up some details and have some confirmed specs for you, we'll let you know.
