The 2014 Dodge Durango receives a mid-term update in the form of Dodge's new eight-speed transmission and an improved interior.
The Durango is a popular SUV that can seat up to seven people in relative comfort. It can also tow decent weight, carry cargo and ferry everyone around with ease. It's an ideal family car that looks as good as it drives.
The styling is typically Dodge with a large front grille, big badge, masculine looks and slightly aggressive headlights. The flat roof and slab sides give an aura of solidity, while the LED light strip at the back lets everyone know it's part of the Dodge family.
Inside is spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The three rows of seats all have generous head and legroom as well as storage and support. The driving position is high and commanding, while the driver's seat itself is plush and comfortable. If you opt for the 8.4 inch touchscreen, you get a very usable and clear infotainment center that works well.
The front seats are comfortable and adjustable. The second and third row seats aren't quite as comfortable, as they are bench seats. Fold them both down and you can get up to 84.5 cu. ft. of cargo in the back.
Under the hood is the ever-reliable 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that delivers 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Opt for the Durango R/T and you'll get the even more reliable HEMI V8. The 5.7-liter motor delivers 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board.
The 2014 Dodge Durangois available in four trims. They are SXT, Limited, R/T and Citadel. The Durango SXT offers 18 inch alloys, auto lighting, fog lights, roof rails, heated mirrors, cruise control, climate control, folding rear seats and CD audio.
The Limited adds power driver's seat, rear parking sensors, leather steering wheels, rear camera, different exterior trim, the 8.4 inch touchscreen with Uconnect and remote engine start. The R/T adds the V8 HEMI while omitting the roof rails. You also get sports tuned suspension, xenon headlights, power lift gate and uprated audio.
The range-topping Durango Citadel adds the V6 motor, auto wipers, sunroof, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and navigation.
The 2014 Dodge Durango is a solid performer with family appeal. It's an SUV with good road manners, poise, quality and durability in plentiful supply. That makes it a firm favourite with family buyers. Check it out today at Unique Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram
